Based on a survey of all major trading centres and routes across the borders of the country, and reports filed from Iran, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, the study found that Afghanistan’s exports and re-exports were US$ 1227 million in 2000, of which nearly $1100 million were unofficial re-exports.
