The settled population of the country, by civil divisions, urban, rural and sex covers 34 provinces, 398 districts and 7 temporary districts. The total population of the country in 1391 (2012-13) is estimated to be approximately 27 million. 13.8 million are men and 13.2 million are women. The settled population of the country (excluding nomads) is estimated at 25.5 million, of which, 12.4 million (49%) are females and 13.1 million (51%) males. Similarly, out of 25.5 million settled population, 19.4 million (76.1%) live in rural areas and 6.1 million (21.9%) in urban areas”.
