Summary: The reduction of narcotics production in Afghanistan, by economic incentives and drug awareness program, is the primary goal of the Narcotics and Awareness Control Project (NACP). To achieve this goal, the project must be able to monitor changes in poppy production. The objective of this report is to evaluate the capabilities of commercially available remotely sensed data to detect poppy cultivation and monitor changes in poppy production—(p. v).
