Summary: “The report highlights the bleak condition of women in Afghanistan. Women are being victimized from a young age; moreover, most of the perpetrators are from their won families. This situation makes it even more difficult for women to report and seek assistance as they would not receive the support of family. Therefore, the current figures barely reflect the overall rate of violence against women. With increased awareness and support of government agencies, we foresee an increase in the rate of reported cases”—(foreword).
