“[Afghanistan oral history, folklore and poetry fieldrecordings] [sound recording]”.

“Margaret Mills’ Dari Oral Narrative Collection: This comprises about 450 hours (about 680 CD’s) of recorded performances of hundreds of examples of folktales and other forms of oral literature, together with interviews with the performers, men and women, about their life experiences. It is the largest existing collection of Afghan oral narrative. The recordings mostly date from peacetime Herat and Kabul, in 1974-76, with some later recordings. The interviews and performances contribute to the oral history of an important dimension of Afghan traditional culture, narrative entertainment”.
